Pokeball go!

Spooky season catch up

Day 14: ESO

Tuesday was just an ESO quest cause I ended up going incredibly tired, I blame having to sort the food shop alone.

Day 15: Night Of The Zoopocalypse, Tron Ares, ESO, Ranboo stream - last report

Thoughts on the films here. After that there was another ESO a quest and Ranboo playing a spooky stream but my focus was off.

Day 16: Welcome To Night Vale - The Big Game, Pokémon ZA, Pokémon stream - thrills and chills, The Simpsons - Treehouse Of Horror IV, Treehouse Of Horror V

TThe morning was a Night Vale ep though this was one of the least spooky ones. Then there was Pokémon (more thoughts later) which is vaguely spooky adjacent (there’s a graveyard) and the Pokémon stream in the night.

This one did live up to the theme name, with a few haunted house type eps. It’s always funny how there’s always someone that doesn’t believe in the paranormal despite ghost Pokémon being a literal thing. (Also there was the Espurr ep which is so feels inducing.) The oddest choice was the first ep which was the first Sabrina ep from the first series. Trouble is they just played that and not the two follow up eps (which formed a trilogy) which felt especially odd as the second is the first ep with ghost Pokémon so would fit the theming perfectly.

Then there was the next two treehouse of horror eps which I watched before bed, both of which were pretty good. It does turn out though that Disney+ has it so you can watch them one after another, I dunno if that’s new but it was so helpful, though you still have to find the first one you wanna start from. (Also the Halloween collection wasn’t in the top banner thing what gives?)

But with that I’ve hit the halfway point of the October side of spooky season. Alas I’ve not done some of the things I hoped, but there’s still time.

***

Onto the big thing and that’s Pokémon went live yesterday, yipee! I’ve not played it for several hours so here’s my early game thoughts.

I choose to start with Tepig which was my plan since I saw the starter reveal and ahh they’re so cute! I had them on the game they were the starter previously so I know how good they are. The new battle system takes a bit of getting used to, but I like it so far.

I do think the early game is a little bit too handholdy. You have to go to a few set places to introduce the mechanics (the wild Pokémon area, the first battle area, getting to the looker bureau) which can be quite restrictive especially when you see an item (or place!) just out of the area. (The handholding does feel justified now I’m allowed to explore as it is easy to get lost)

There is a lot of clothing options but idk feel an issue is gonna be that they’re all so spread out and in some cases it does feel annoying. (One area has at least five clothing stores in an arcade, each one has different items and each one has to be accessed individually). Alas I haven’t got any yet cause of lack of in game funds and not seeing anything too nice but once I do…

I also caught a shiny Pokémon! For those that don’t know pokemon have a chance (extremely rare!) of being shiny, which means they’re a different colour. People go shiny hunting but I don’t bother so I’ve only ever had a handful (and most of those are the red gyrados in gold/silver). So I was so surprised to find one in the very first wild area! It’s a weedle so I’ve trained it to a bee drill and it looks so cool so I’m definitely keeping it on my team!

I’m still early game so I’m looking forward to finding more plays and doing more battles (I’ve only done one night so far) and I’m curious how they’ll make it so the setting of a city doesn’t feel limiting. But so far it’s a good time.

Other things.

I’m still a bit rattled about the train thing. I had an email about doing a survey (probably cause I used the net on the way back) so I made sure to let my feelings known. Then it mentioned complaints so I decided to do that too. It has made me nervous about travelling today but eh.

However I have booked my ticket to Coheed, last night which I feel is the latest I’ve left it for a gig, so I will be off tonight. The merch for the eu leg hasn’t been impressive so I’ll probably not get anything which is good.

My plan was to pretty much go to the gig, after picking up the birthday Krispy Kreme from the station and looking in the Lego store. However I saw on instagram that the Birmingham Primark has a Stranger Things themed cafe so I’m going to that, since I’ve no idea when I’ll be going to Birmingham and I dunno if it’ll be time limited. It does look pretty cool. I did see a menu so I’ll probably just have an ice cream since the meals are all meaty.

I did watch Celebrity Traitors Wednesday though I need to iplayer yesterdays today (damn it and Taskmaster having the same time slot). I’m so pissed at who the first kill was on Wednesday I hoped he’d last longer (not naming names here unless anyone else is behind).

Yesterday 5 Seconds Of Summer dropped the next single which I’ve only heard once but damn they also did additions of the album with each of the boys on and each one has a different exclusive track which is so annoying! They look nice but damn. I’m debating between emailing support and switching from the regular to one or holding off and getting the bundle (alas the timing is so irritating!)

Anyways, I’m just gonna see about doing uni reading now then Celebrity Traitors and Pokémon before heading out.

Also after the last post I started a Letterboxd here and put in all the October films I’ve seen thus far

Dentists and Disappointments

Had to be at my dentist this morning. I remember why I like him so much but damn I wish it wasn't 2-3 months even on an emergency appointment. He said that yes there is a bone spur and a broken buccal plate where they pulled out the tooth, so nothing unexpected there. It'll take months to fill in but that wasn't why I was there. My first crown is a problem child. It is 22-23 years old, had it put on in FL. It was a metal and porcelain style and I've spent two decades reacting to the metal in my gum. But it's now old. It's worn down badly in the back and it no longer fits well. Mostly it's a great place for food to get up under and be a pain in the ...well mouth. We're going to pull it off and replace it as soon as shit-ass insurance says yes. I go from there to the library because I won theater tickets. I was SO HAPPY! I won tickets to the Markay (the art deco theater saved from destruction and is such a nice place) I was thrilled until I got from there to my coffee house and looked up the play 'night, Mother Ooooo it's Halloween so surely this is horror, right? RIGHT? No, it sounds depressing AF about an epileptic divorced mom talking to HER mother about what to do when she dies because she's killing herself tonight. The whole play is two women. talking. ABOUT SUICIDE. Oh hell no. I'm taking the tickets back and telling them, thanks but see if someone else wants them because i have a conflict with the date (sounds better than I don't wanna see a play about suicide, not with my own issues) So disappointed. Wanna guess how many of the seven meds I was texted about that CVS actually filled? Did you guess one? Here's a gold star. I will never use their text service again. I had to go back up to Jackson later for the Uptown Upstairs history tour. I have a write up. Will share tomorrow (in theory) because I haven't had time to get the pics off my camera. I did have to get my ticket today at the Lillian Jones Museum (a cat followed me in. I should have carried him across the street which is where it lives and that's a busy road but I feared he'd cross back again) turns out the woman there got her nursing degree at my uni in the 1980s and remembers the people I started with. Speaking of nurses, the afternoon class did better and my majors did MUCH better this time

That didn't go as well as I had hoped

Both midterms and yoga

Gave three midterms today and I have only graded one. On the plus side, plenty of writing time. I finished my last two [community profile] fandomgiftbasket stories (to the tune of at least 2500 words, probably over 3K) (there is like one set of prompts I could do but they only want art. I'm not sure I'm good enough for that)

The other good, got two 100% scores on the exam. On the bad I had at least 6 (out of 24) less than 50%. I tell them don't leave the fill in the blanks blank. Give it a shot. I give it partial credit. I might have to start adding 'but think hard if it makes sense' because on the ceruminous glands make this question (ear wax) someone put BRAINS. I...I can't even. And two people on the what is the system called that we use to determine % of the body that's burned (rule of nines) and they said 'nervous system' I figure they cheated off each other because what are the chances two people would independently come up with something that dumb. (I am not pursuing the cheating suspicion because seriously neither got over 40%. doesn't even matter)

And I have two more sets of tests to grade :(

Yoga was well attended (yay), in a terrible room (boo). Hard floors even with a mat was hard on my knees. I could not push up from the floor into downward dog (I can go into it from standing). I handed the standing poses well but since there was nothing to hold on to, I couldn't return to the floor. My leg was shaking too much. I couldn't feel it at all. I know it'll buckle if I try to get down with nothing to hold onto. I had to stand and basically not do the second half of the exercise. So embarrassing. Also frightening was doing the child pose and realizing I can feel whatever the fuck it is in my throat blocking my breathing. I still have about 3 weeks before I see Ent. sigh.

Next week we're moving to a different room, one with chairs so I can either do chair yoga or at least have something to grab onto. This was so much harder than I thought (and I thought it would be hard even though I used to do yoga). I have to look to make sure my toes aren't folded over because I can't feel them. And at the end when I'm telling my parents about it dad's like 'you wasted money on an Amazon mat'

Me - what are you talking about? I've had this thing for years. I've been doing yoga since my undergrad days!

Dad - I've never see you do yoga, (very obviously calling me a liar)

Me - yeah well I have done (I should mail him the old vhs and dvds I have of yoga flows) but I'm thinking I would NEVER let your hyper critical ass see me exercise ever, not even at gun point.

What I Just Finished Reading:

The Cat Who Saved Books - I just didn't get the hype. It was fine but...I've already forgotten most of it

What I am Currently Reading:

Mirage City - the follow up to Lavender House, very different in tone. I would love ALL of the Hazbin fandom (and creator) to read this to see what being gay in the early half of the 1900s was like.

The Queen of Blood - a YA fantasy I've had on my shelf for too many years now. It's not bad so far but yes the first quarter is more dark academia, fit to survive school (eye roll)

Haunted Cemeteries of Ohio - you know why

Lackadaisy vol 2

clean sweep - I think that's the title some romance graphic novel urban fantasy might be decent if not for the icky romance tropes (sorry but alpha males make me want to shoot them in their smug faces, not drop my panties)

What I Plan to Read Next: The Gallery Assistant -got bored with this arc

More comic cons means more news so have some more of the Mighty Nein

and an uncensored trailer that wasn't much different than last night's. I'm still sitting here going why does Beau look so much like Sokka?!?

I posted this a year or two ago (it has a major spoiler if you are unfamiliar with the Mighty Nein) still a great animatic

And I've posted this before. But as I was watching Critical Role, this popped up a few years ago and got me listening to The Mighty Nein because I was so curious after hearing this (I just wished I liked Jester better (don't like Beau at all)

(no subject)

After using my glasses for good chunk of yesterday it seems that my eyes can adjust to the smudge’s presence, which is good so that meant going today to the cinema.

I did kinda regret going this morning though cause ugh. There were a team of three ticket people on the train but not to check tickets they instead harassed people. The machine at the station wasn’t working and they just weren’t believing anyone or helping, so that was needlessly stressful.

In town I just went to the cinema and they had the cool Tron Ares cups that light up! They posted on their insta so I asked and the guy just gave me one saying it was free, nice!

Trailers were pretty much stuff I’d seen before though the Zootropolis one was new as was the Avatar one, plus there was the Predator one which looked like it might be interesting. However! The best one was seeing the Mandalorian and Grogu one on the big screen! Ahh I’m excite!

Thoughts on Zoopocalypse and Tron Ares under the cut.

The rest of the night is gonna be spent flop and snuggling Midna (and watching Celebrity traitors). I might sort the Coheed ticket after noms.

Then tomorrow! That’s gonna be Pokémon release day yay! So I will likely be on that for the afternoon, then Taskmaster in the night.

It hurts my heart

So I found out my friends who do paranormal investigations are doing a public investigation in MY area for once, out on the island in Lake Alma. It used to be an amusement park with casino (the turn of the century dance hall kind not the Vegas kind). There are a few known haunts. I was so excited until I read the fine print. It's at the TOP of the hill on the island which is rugged, steep and does not have a trail to the top. I couldn't make that hike in the daylight let alone in the dark.

I hate that my accident took so much from me. Sigh.

In happier news today was my local library's 50th anniversary at their location plus the opening of their imagination garden. It's a native flower and sound garden. I had to play with the metal flowers and make noise. I might go make more noise. The library had appetizers/desserts plus a local choir (that I hadn't known existed) who sang about 6 songs (not particularly well but they enjoyed themselves and hell, why not?)

CVS, upon me asking why text me to refill scripts and when I get there you tell me it was too early to fill them. WHY TEXT ME?, says and I quote 'we can't control the bot that texts' OMFG

rant that includes blood and gore )

So fannish 50 today is going to be ALL kinds of cool shit from NYCC. ... okay cool things that interest me because hey, this is my blog.

I did listen to this for the better part of a year but have yet to see the animation is this S2...3 I don't even know at this point (I don't have prime) but it looks good (did love the gaming sessions)

Don't know if I have other TADC fans on here but here's a sneak peek of S7 (an official one. I don't look at leaks) I do not like where they're taking Zooble/Gangle with the Jax bashing (yes he's a bullying ass but this isn't really better)

This song from Lackadaisy is really good. I do hope to see the animation come out now than Glitch picked it up (kinda, sorta) and I hope I can catch up so I too can be there complaining I wish she'd finish this (but no seriously, finish it)

Speaking of Glitch this is all cool. I will say I only got half way thru both Murder Drones and Gaslight District before I wandered off. They weren't bad but I got busy and only had time for half...but never went back.

And this second song from Hazbin is an absolute banger. If you listen to nothing else in this post, listen to this
(also I wanna see her Fall!)

and here are two short videos. this first one is a lot of fun. Look at what they did to advertise Hazbin
in NYC it's so cool

all the new Hazbin merch take away me wallet

Also I got 3 handmade cards today from Cat Scarlet, Flippy and [personal profile] stonepicnicking_okapi thanks everyone they're cool

Lost in the flood

Spooky season catch up

Day 11: fortnitemares, nine bodies in a Mexican morgue, eso, embrace the darkness part 2

Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue due the same thing that Hell Motel did, include a flashback to a character at the start of this week. So, naturally I assumed he’d be doomed. Then the title came up as his name and I knew it was so over for him. Which sucks cause he was one of my favs.

A ‘good’ thing about my glassses fucking up is I had to get back to Embrace The Darkness.

Day 12: fortnitemares, Wednesday - if these woes could talk, shoto spooky stream, some bad spooky stream - poppy playtime

Shoto and Badboyhalo did spooky streams though again, my focus was off cause of exhaustion.

I did manage to watch Wednesday which I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do but I did use my older glasses. It was the last of the first set of eps which feels like a good place to share thoughts.

Under a cut for spoilers.

Day 13: embrace the darkness part 3+4, ESO

I managed to do a quest on ESO, I had hoped to finished the Apocrypha quests before the new event happened but tiredness and glasses screwed that up. But yay for spooky creatures,

Also finished Embrace the darkness which was pretty good. I had a feeling there’d be a reveal of the ‘bad’ aliens actually being good so I’m glad I was right. Can’t help but be puzzled about all the tardises flying past in the first ep.

***

And now onto yesterday. Before we went the mail came and one of the this were the comics I had on preorder so now I have the following to read:
*Exquisite Corpses 4+5 (I still need to read 2+3 oop)
*Event Horizon Dark Descent 1+2
*The Umbrella Academy Plan B 2+3

When will I read them? Who knows cause up yesterday I got too drained and it feels the rest of the week is a bunch of stuff (more on that later).

At the opticians they, predictably, said the glasses weren’t fixable by them. I asked if I was due an appointment since it’s been awhile (and my eyes have felt worse) and apparently I’m overdue. Usually they send a letter when it’s time but have I had one? Nope. Sigh. I’m booked in Saturday so there’s that, but that means no new glasses for at least another week.

I am wondering if the new glasses will mean I can have better focus and everything but I guess we’ll see

When I got back I tried to use the superglue to repair the break only I fucked up and got the glue over one of the lenses so now there’s a smear over them. I looked up how to get it off lenses and tried everything I could find but no luck ugh. I’m gonna just wear them for today and see if the eye compensates.

The plans for the rest of the week are kinda dependant on that (plus energy, plus weather). I do have the old glasses which are a workable temporary solution but…

The intent of the week is this:
Wednesday - cinema trip: Tron Ares (and maybe Night Of The Zoopocalypse)
Thursday - Pokémon ZA release (which thankfully is the one thing not glasses dependant)
Friday - Coheed gig (once I get ticket)
Saturday - Opticians, maybe a cinema trip
Sunday - Horror market, dnd

Tomorrow’s cinema trip depends on how I feel with glasses as well as weather, which feels like it could go either way. It also depends on working out when to go for the best, which is dependant on if I see Zoopocalypse first (a 10am showing) or second (a 3:50 showing). The cinema also has a Tron Ares cup thing with the light cycle which is pretty cool so I might see about that.

Coheed depends on how I feel about must sight, I was gonna get the ticket when my money went in but causa the glasses fucking up… I have got a setlist from the EU dates so I have been listening to that. It has got 2 of my 3 fav songs on from the new album which is good so it would be nice to go. (Oddly there’s none from one of the other albums of theirs I really liked)

I had hoped to see Black Phone 2 before the gig but alas all the cinema times are just before or during it, even with new times. I had took a morning optician appointment in case they added an early afternoon showing Saturday but alas nope. I’m not sure I have it in me watch three films in one day for it (since the earliest showing is 5:20 which feels too late for me on a post gig day plus I’d like to see strictly), so I’m looking into going Tuesday or Wednesday depending.

(And speaking of Strictly I can’t believe they had a Sunday dance based on the Minecraft movie, that was insane)

There’s a horror film market Sunday thats walking distance away so it’s weather dependant. There was one earlier in the year just after I saw Sinners but it was too crazy then to see but I saw on the website that there was one now.

Then in the night there’s MCC but also ITV is showing Star Trek Strange New Worlds so I might check that out since I’ve never seen it.

Anyway now it’s to wait on the food shop and then ??

Lemme ask you a question

So I didn't open emails over the weekend because of the con. I open it today and in my two online only classes I have 40 students between two classes. Out of those 40 THREE wrote me to say we can't see the notes for the final unit. I turned that on a week ago sunday and the quizzes were due yesterday. The final on this is due friday.

THREE people out of 40. And they're right. The notes are messed up. I fixed it. I extended the quizzes and the final (the class locks off next week because friday is technically the last day of class) so my question is WHY would you not contact the professor if something was wrong.

And the other stuff isn't working either and IT says it's McGraw Hill who says I'm doing it wrong, you know the same thing I've done for 20 damn years. And btw am doing exactly how they're telling me to do it. screams into the void.

But as for yesterday, I came home to go to Bob Fest vs going to the last day of the con. Honestly I can bump this back to every other year too. I know where all the vendors are and how much more could I use from any of them? Sure the coffee/honey/maple vendors I can always use (as if I can't get it from Kroger, literally in the coffee's case, they're local and carried by Kroger) How much more glass can I get from the glass blower (the answer is a blue bird for mom and a purple one for me) I did skip the jerky (getting too expensive) got the cheese from my cheesemonger.

And I was going to get some bougie boozy jam. How much are these? two for 35$. Sure thing. She sees me with jelly jars in hand. I sneak them onto a shelf and scamper off. You can't scamper with a cane. Lordee no.

I did buy a left handed hand carved spoon with a scraper (which is why it's handed, not that I suspect it matters much) It's walnut and he carves the wood type and date into it. 2012. I was sad for my spoon. It's been going to festival after festival for 13 years and no one wanted it. Poor spoon (which yes that is animism right there) I was going to give it to Dad but I think I'll keep this poor unwanted spoon (I stir left handed anyhow)

I pet some long horns (owned by one of my current students) and came home.

have some con pictures under here )

And it's music monday. Since it's spooky time let's continue with the spooky music

Another full albumn for you. This is my favorite by Midnight Syndicate

I have always loved these house displays (Im not tech savvy enough to do this) here's one that's a tribute to Ozzy (Locally the rock station is calling this Ozztober)

It's late. I'm tired and just got a reject from an anthology (boo) but I have a head full of plot bunnies. Let me ask you guys this. What do you do with your wild plot bunnies. Do you immediately start on them? DO you write a little bit of it to get it out of your head and go back to your regularly scheduled work? DO you write down the idea in a file folder (You'll never remember the name of) or just go I'll remember this (and promptly forget)

Or are you like me and do all of the above?

The curse continues

So it feels that this week has been curse. Between student finance acting up (it’s still not up), one bag being forgotten, the other breaking and the sd card being completely useless last night a new issue occurred.

I was seated, ready to watch through the Wildhood special features as planned. I reached up to lift my glasses to scratch my nose and this happened.

Yep they broke in half. I dunno why, cause I wasn’t rough or anything but… ugh.

Obviously I couldn’t do anything with them last night. I tried to find the superglue but had no luck so all my plans were screwed. I listened to an audio and then went to bed.

In the morning I asked mum if she knew where superglue was to fix them and, after looking at the glasses declared instead I should ‘take them to the opticians in the morning’ to see if they could fix or put the lenses in something else. So instead of them being fixed I was given an old pair which aren’t great for my eyes which is far from ideal. I feel that I might be due a test (cause of how my eyes have been achy and bad at reading text on the tv) so feel they might just say to be booked in for that instead. Which… that isn’t ideal when I handed my glasses both for cinema trips and to see Coheed and waiting on that would likely take a week or longer even if I got in tomorrow.

Then tonight, when I said I’d just have to superglue them if they said I’d need testing, mum magicked up the superglue and I’m so annoyed by that cause I could have had them sorted earlier. Now I’m holding off till I go but ughh. (It hasn’t helped my already tiredness)

Ugh.

And I’m gonna add it here so I’m not adding it to another post. (Next one will be back to spooky season stuff.) but I found out yesterday that Ian Watkins is dead. Sounds like someone stabbed him and it killed him. Honestly I’m more surprised it hadn’t happened sooner. I haven’t appreciated his face splashed everywhere (everytime I open my email it goes to the news section with his mugshot which I don’t wanna see)

Also don’t appreciate that yesterday some dick decided to gloat to people. He went to one of Ian’s old tweets from 13 years ago (before anyone had any idea he was the monster he is) and replied to people generally being a prick about it. I bit back to the asshole then blocked him (apparently he’s some perfect Angel that has never interacted with someone that turned out to be horrible). Ugh.

But yeah tomorrow is, instead of whatever else I had planned, is gonna be a trip to the opticians after seeing if mail comes. Maybe I’ll spend the rest of the day doing other stuff I meant to (like comic reading or getting back to Hades II).

My Body doesn't know what's happening to it

My knee is in business for itself and the rest of me is thinking WTF are you DOING? I was over at the con by 10 AM to hear the first of my planned panels. (Here's the funny thing THREE of the four panels I picked out today were all Vitamin H panels) This one was not. It was run by a cute nerdy kid who was SO thrilled to see me as I was only the 4th person through the door and the other three were his friends. (more people did come but the con didn't open until 10 so it's like maybe schedule the panels on the half hour?)

It was about all the literature in Bungo Stray Dogs. If you don't know this anime/manga all its characters are named for literary figures and/or references. He had slides for all the references and did a kahoots quiz at the end. It was a lot of fun but damn I need to reread this (and you know finish it. I trailed off midway)

From there I went to a slasher movie panel (all the remaining ones are by Vitamin H) which was just a blast. Hey they put in Suspiria, Italian horror from 77 (I just learned the other day it had been remade about 8 years ago) After that I had a BIG break with nothing much I wanted to see until 3 pm.

Here I go into the vendor's room unsupervised. I'm thirsty and this asshole convention center has NO water fountains so you have to buy from their concessions (this is not Tsu's fault) which is like 8$ a damn glass so I get in line for Wild Bill's boutique pop brewery because he FINALLY has a zero sugar option. I get up there and the cheapest you can do it for (because you HAVE to buy the 'collector's stainless steel mug') was THIRTY-FIVE fucking dollars. FOR POP! He wanted another 15$ for the lid/straw. Thanks. I'll take my fucking chances and the cooler mugs were north of 50 bucks. And the zero sugar blueberry pop SUCKED. It was SO bad. So I said fuck it, this is like Dana at a buffet. I'm consuming 35$ worth of stuff to offset the rip off pricing. I made a choice 'just be gross about it. Consume all you can. You have insulin. Get the full sugar birch or root beer which are the only 2 pops you like outside of gingerale (i don't like pop. I don't like carbonation) I have a full mug in my fridge right now. It was COMING WITH ME. I drank so damn much pop.

Lunch was a shitty pepperoni roll and pop.

I got a few more gifts for friends. Keep me away from dice. I was really annoyed that I wanted to get Loona (helluva boss) for a friend's daughter and every Helluva boss woman I found from bigger vendors were grossly sexualized. You know the type, gravity defying boobs of doom and barely clothed with tongue lolling out just for youuuuuu. Ugh. I did find her a little keychain. I got dice with little purple owls in them for reasons. But my favorite purchase of the whole con was from
Pink Pig studios who had sweet shippy stuff for Cherri/Pen (the one I mentioned last night) Huskerdust (guilty I bought it) and Vaggie/Charlie but also she was a huge Keith David fan and she did one of Husk in Keith's role in John Carpenter's The Thing!!! Yes it's mine. And I'm obsessed. I told her I am absolutely writing fanfic to this. Husk can't wait for me to find time. Too bad none of my [personal profile] spook_me prompts fit it.

I wander to the hotel to rest up for a bit since I'm done shopping and no panels I want. Open my social media to ALL the Hazbin and Glitch news from NY comic con (will share on tuesday's post) and people have been clipping Valentino's beautiful art of Vox he drew in the meeting and now I can't get it out of my head, he drew Angel too back in the love bombing days. Plot bunnies all over the damn place. Found calls from my brother and Mom (I had the phone silenced). Thought maybe someone died. No. My brother go another kitten. Cute bugger too.

I go to my last panels (grabbing pop before, between and after because dammit 35$) one on Studio Ghibli behind the scenes and one on Youkai (the theme this year) both excellent. I had never heard that Kappa will reach up your ass to grab out your soul. Well then. Or that tanuki have balls that can be stretched out for yards to form tents, blankets, whatever it needs. side eyes Japan hard.

Runs for more pop. Attends the great manga swap and fail at it miserably. HAHA. Honestly I didn't want to swap. I had a bunch of manga. Sorted it last night, left about 6 here because I realize I only had half a set for a few so back home they go. Before it started I asked the traveling manga library librarian, if no one wants this ancient manga (all of it was from 2000-2015) can I donate it to you? YES. Great.

I didn't even have it all laid out before someone swooped up 'you have tactics!!' what do you want for them? I look at her offerings. Nothing, they're yours. She danced off. A young girl sweeps up from nowhere, 'Vampire Knight?!?' I want nothing from that disappointment of a series. Take it from my sight (I said it nicer naturally)

I give my single volume one offs to the library for two volumes of Interlocken and now I'm left with 5 volumes of Venus vs Virus and the only thing I really want is the drifting classroom omnibus but the guy is like no, I have that (meanwhile it was HIS girlfriend who scooped up tactics but whatever dude) I find one guy with some BL stuff and I know who he is, a vendor who is trying to get stuff to take to his stand. Give me these Stars of Chaos light novels for this 5 volumes? no? 2? yes.

I'm now done. I get more pop. Leave and look to go to Fazio's. rated best Italian restaurant in WV. I find it. No one is on the street, park out front. Go in and it was as I feared. I was WOEFULLY underdressed. See, my dress shirt? It got trashed by blue crab/goat cheese cream sauce yesterday. And why I didn't think of putting on my Edalyn shirt/skirt until just now...I'm tired yinz. I'm the only one in a t-shirt (thank god it was the dark blue one you can barely make out). I'm shocked I wasn't turned away. There were kids in black tie (Prom? Nah that's spring. Wedding? Probably)

They had both Negronis and Aperol Spritzs on the menu so I am content they at least know Italian cocktails and the place has no windows (comforting, for reasons) and a diverse menu. They bring a salad (body is going what is this, no it has vitamin K but OMG Italian dressing. Face down yummy) and then give me three pieces of garlic bread sopping in garlic butter/cheese yay for scarpettas! (Wait, bread? AGAIN! You had four slices last night. Your diabetes....shut up and eat the bread). I got the baked manicotti. Oooo good. I got the aperol spritz too (see, T-Shirt girl can afford your cocktails). By the time I leave (I got there at like 630) the line was out the door to get in. At least this waitress wasn't a snot like last time.

Roll on home to have like an hour before the online Abney Park Halloween concert I had bought before realizing I'd be sitting in a hotel room listening.

And guess what I'm drinking. That's right POP (and my blood sugar is 130...go figure)

Spooky season

Day 8: The Long Walk, Embrace The Darkness part 1

Wednesday was mostly The Long Walk, but then in the night my eyes went achy. I put on one of the spooky Doctor Who audios I have, Embrace The Darkness, but only managed the first part before getting too tired (and, alas I’ve not listened to the other 3 parts). It is good so far though.

Day 9: Fortnitemares update, pokemon thrills and chills stream

Fortnite’s Halloween update went live Thursday and the map looks so cool and spooky. There’s also a demon rush mode (with K-pop Demon Hunters theming, though I dunno how themed it actually is). There’s a lot of new skins added for things this time too with Scream’s Ghostface, Wednesday, Art The Clown from Terrifier and The Grabber from Black Phone among others. Plus there’s also a new mothman npc and he’s so cute I love him.

There was also another Pokémon spooky themed stream. Again it was had some eps with ghost Pokémon more so than being spooky themed though it did have some good spooky ones too. Including a spooky forest, an Pokémon creativity illusions and a haunted house. There was also the odd choice of putting two Alolan eps that were the climax of an arc but without the buildup were just confusing.

Day 10: Fortnitemares, fantastic four 4, eso

Friday was more Fortnitemares, plus I finally read the Fantastic Four comic I got the other week which was pretty good (and definitely spooky!) I loved that Allie got a chance to really shiny this time, plus the unexpected spaceship story was so unnerving.

And then there was another ESO quest which, again, was definitely spooky vibes.

***

Non spooky vibes now but uh the last days have ended up being so tiring.

On Thursday we went down to B and Q to get a new lightbulb for the extractor fan thing above the stove. We’d tried online but had no luck finding the right thing. Even here wasn’t an exact match so we had to try our luck (thankfully it was) then I popped in game to pick up detective pikachu (it was still on offer) then we went in b and m. And mum decided we had to get pet food from there (instead of the co-op from just up the road) so we had to lug it back which was tiring).

Thankfully we didn’t miss the stuff we ordered though that was annoyance. The micro sd card I ordered from prime day? Not the right one for the switch 2 which is annoying. I looked it up and the right sort of sd card is three times the full price for the same size which is so irritating. Also the bag replacement came and the only downside to that is no zip compartment inside and the strap is so much shorter than the old one.

Then mum wanted to take Naryu to the vet for her jabs which meant I couldn’t go out Friday. I was debating whether to go or not anyway but to have the choice removed was… annoying. Even more annoying? She changed her mind yesterday morning about going. (We couldn’t book an appointment cause the phone was dead). Thankfully the store opening didn’t look as good as I expected but still.

Then today we did end up going and they managed to squeeze us in, but of course they found issues with Naryu’s ear so no jabs anyway and instead she has meds. Sigh.

It’s all meant I’ve been so tired and even more low energy which is such an annoyance. (Not helped that I’ve been out 5 of the 6 days this week😭)

In other news Black Phone 2 has listings but alas they mean I can’t see it opening day if I go to see Coheed and Cambria as planned (I’ve not got my ticket but will when money goes in) so it’ll mean watching sometime the following week most likely. (And cause of not going yesterday sometime this week I’ll be seeing Tron Ares/Zoopocalypse)

But ugh that means that a week on Monday is my birthday which, bleh birthday. At least I’ll have Pokémon and the new Doctor Who boxset to start (if it arrives). There’s also a horror market thing the day before so we’ll see if I feel up to going.

However there was also a second delivery yesterday and it was this.

Thoughts ahoy!
